System for Process Monitoring in Bioreactor Systems Using Miniaturised Wireless Sensors As part of the Sens-o-Spheres project, a measurement system for process monitoring in bioreactor systems was developed. The measurements inside the bioreactors are carried out by means of small sensor spheres (d<9mm) that float in the bioreactor and transmit the recorded measured values wirelessly to a base station at regular time intervals. Sensor spheres for temperature and pH value measurement were realised. Particular challenges included the high degree of miniaturisation and minimising power consumption of the electronics.
